Early Years

Introduction

The Early Years Foundation Stage welcomes children aged 2 to 5 years.  We ensure that children starting school for the first time can enter a secure, settled and friendly environment where our experienced and specialised Early Years teachers provide them with the attention they need.  We believe every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates, so through our carefully structured and themed lessons, our youngest children are given the time and space to actively learn through a variety of fun and exciting experiences.  We lay the foundation for a smooth transition to the Primary School.

Curriculum

The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework from the UK is closely followed and learning is largely centred around play. The Letters and Sounds is used to support children's development in phonics alongside the Oxford Reading Tree scheme. There are timetabled sessions for Physical Education, Swimming and Music which are taught by specialist teachers.
