A Midsummer Nights Dream

11th February 2022

This week the Y7 and 8s have spread a little mischievousness around the school, performing their abridged version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Podo Theatre was brought to life with a wonderful backdrop created by Mrs Bebbington and some student volunteers, props were carefully made by the Y7 and 8s during Art lessons and some fresh woodland flowers added the final touch.

Lisa wrote this synopsis of the play: A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a comedy with lots of mischief and mayhem. Get ready to travel to Athens, but be careful with your secrets. You will find yourself being lured into the enchanted forest, where mischievous Puck causes lots of trouble for the magical and non-magical creatures. Two worlds collide and things don't end well. Or do they?

After lots of practising and improving of their facial expressions and voice projection the thespians took the stage to perform to the whole school. Bellows of laughter rang out as Euan was transformed into a donkey and Billy donned a stripy dress as he took to the role of Thisbe.

Thank you to the parents who came to support and also to Mount Kenya Academy who also came to our final performance.

Congratulations to all the Y7 and 8s for the epic performance, it certainly brought a smile to the audience faces and was the perfect end to a busy half term!
