A Taste of Year 2

17th May 2024

A highlight for the Year 2 children this term has been learning all about Spain (Espana) during International Fortnight. As part of this unit of learning, they cooked paella, engaged in a Cubism art project inspired by the legendary Pablo Picasso and conducted Spanish animal research using iPads. They created their Matador dance costumes and practiced this well, performing a dance that won the audience over instantly.

Another favourite topic for some this term in Year 2 has been the visual topic of Fractions in Maths. Children have enjoyed splitting wholes into equal parts, and amounts into equal groups.

History and D&T have also been topics of interest. Inspired by the Wright Brothers, the children designed and created futuristic aircraft models that would make the Orville and Wilbur proud.

In English, our budding wordsmiths have been exploring the world of adverbs. They are discovering the power of adding descriptive flair to their writing. Plus, they have been crafting enchanting poems that dance and sing with the magic of adverbs.
