Animal Adventures

This week, Year 5 were lucky enough to be able to visit Ol Jogi Conservancy and its rescue centre. Learning was focussed around animals that were from other countries, as well as some that are also found in Kenya.

To complement our work in school about plant and animal life cycles, our guide, Daniel, was extremely knowledgeable about the animals and plants that can be found at Ol Jogi and also answered our questions about the individual personalities of the animals we saw. Maybe you know an animal that has a unique personality like a cheeky horse or shy cat?

Year 5 put their investigative skills to the test when they tried to identify different skulls. There were some close encounters with animals, such as a mother and young rhino that got quite close to the bus as we returned from a mini walking safari, and an elephant skull that had not been there more than a few months and had an extremely strong smell! The children also experienced another very special close encounter with an elephant (and his guide!) who had been with its carer since it was young.
