Area and perimeter

10th February 2023

This week, Year 5 have been learning about area and perimeter. It is important for the children to see how Maths relates to everyday situations or how it can be used in real life, such as in architecture, arts or even music. They shared ideas on how to work out the solutions to various problems, such as how long the perimeter fence of the school would be. Do you have any guesses?

Children thought carefully, working together to come up with different strategies to solve the problem. They needed to calculate missing dimensions or convert between different units before finding the final answer. It has been lovely hearing them explain their preferred route to a solution when solving problems.
