Athletic Excellence

24th November 2023

On Saturday 17th November, ten athletes from BNIS proudly competed as part of the Braeburn Umoja team at the annual Braeburn Athletics Meet in the Moi National Athletics Stadium. The Umoja team was made up of the best athletes from BNIS, Braeburn Kisumu, Braeburn Mombasa and Braeside Thika. BNIS's part of this team featured children from Years 4-8 who had out-performed those in the other three schools for their part in the competition against 16 other Kenya international school teams.

Our long-jumpers, shot putters, sprinters, relayers, long-distance runners and ball throwers gave every ounce of effort to do their very best, all earning points for the Umoja team. Not one of them failed to impress despite the pressure of competing in such incredible surroundings. They came home exhausted but with memories that will last them a lifetime. Particular mention must go to Oscar (Y8) who came home with a gold medal; for his shot put - well done!
