Athletics, athletics and more athletics! As Kenya’s top sports discipline, Braeburn Nanyuki has contributed to this exciting sport by fuelling and encouraging the passion and fire for Athletics through the development and improvement of the children’s skill, talent and ability on the field. The children’s dedication to training and discipline in terms of track and field etiquette has paid off through their exceptional performance in the school’s annual Inter-house Athletics Morning and the annual Braeburn Schools Athletics Meet held in Nairobi at The Moi International Sports Centre in the Kasarani Stadium.

Back home on our field we held our first full athletics morning since the Covid-19 pandemic, BNIS did it bigger and better by involving the whole school and all parents in the competitive athletic track and field events. Children did their absolute best to earn points for their houses through their selected events with great encouragement and support from their teachers and parents. Parents and teachers were not left behind as they had their own races to compete in to show off their athletic prowess. It was a day of fun and community, a great way to resume the annual tradition. Congratulations to Duma who took first place, followed closely by Simba and then Chui. These much deserved points will be added to our on going house totals.

Progress and achievement continued at the Braeburn Athletics Meet where our athletes battled it out in both field and track events against around 16 other schools from across Kenya. The athletes had a taste of a serious competitive environment and learnt a lot about sportsmanship and the unifying nature of sports. Congratulations to Allan for bringing home a bronze medal in shot put and Alana for getting to the 100m sprint finals! Keep it up, our BNIS athletes.
