4th October 2024
This week, a total of 52 students from Years 3 to 8 participated in the IAPS Up-country Athletics warm-up at Pembroke House. The event focussed on practising various track and field events in preparation for upcoming competitions. Field events included ball throws, shot put, discus, javelin, long jump, high jump, and triple jump; track events ranged from sprints and middle-distance races to relays. Our students performed exceptionally well, securing multiple 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishes.
A standout moment was Hugo from Year 6 breaking the U11’s Up-country 100m sprint record with a time of 13.56 seconds - he is a promising future talent who is now aiming for even bigger achievements.
In the afternoon, children took to the field for cricket matches. The girls played pairs' cricket, U11 boys played soft ball cricket, and U13 boys played hard ball cricket. They demonstrated excellent technical skills and teamwork and this was great preparation for upcoming cricket competitions.
Thank you to the parents for their support and to the teachers for organising the event.
