This term was fantastic for sports. All the children happily tried both running and field events. For running, we practiced everything from fast sprints (100 metres) and team relays to long-distance running (1500 metres). For the field events, the children learned many different ways to jump and throw. They learned to jump far in the long jump, jump high in the high jump, and throw objects like the small vortex and the bigger turbo javelin. The main goal was for everyone to get better at the skills and try to beat their own best scores. This hard work made everyone feel more confident.

The training also helped the children grow strong character traits. Challenging activities like the triple jump (a complex jump) and throwing the heavy shot put taught everyone to be tough and keep trying, even when it was hard. Working together on the relays also showed them how important teamwork and good sportsmanship are. Learning specific skills, like how to properly throw the discus and the real javelin, also helped students understand how strong bodies can help them in many other games and activities, not just athletics.

All of our practice paid off at the big Braeburn Athletics event. The children showed off their new skills, from the speed they built during sprint training to the power they used in their throws. The school had great success, with many the children winning awards and finishing in the top spots. This excellent result made everyone proud and showed that a positive attitude and hard work really matter. We will use this great term as a starting point to keep making our school's sports program even better next term.
