Beginners' Luck Tale in Golf

16th March 2024

The Year 5 children and teachers couldn’t wait to get to The Maiyan Golf Club on Friday...

Oh, what a morning this was! When we finally got there, we were quickly taken through the sport with a few jargons here and there that are a must-use even for an amateur. What a sport! A first time for many of us and we loved it! A sport steeped in tradition and elegance, captivated our interest like never before. From the moment we stepped onto the course, we were drawn into a world of lush greens, serene landscapes, and the satisfying thud of a club meeting a ball.

To many of us, learning golf was beginning to be an exhilarating journey. Each swing, each putt, was a lesson in precision and finesse. As we navigated the course, we found ourselves immersed in the intricacies of strategy and technique, constantly refining our gradually growing skills with each round we played.

But what we truly saw that set golf apart is the sense of camaraderie that it fostered. We played with strangers from Hamptons School but still shared joy in the challenge, mutual respect for the game and each other's efforts.

Despite having two or three excellent players in the whole group, by the time we were leaving we all felt like Tiger Woods.

As we reflect the experiences, we realised that golf is not merely a sport; it's a lifestyle.
