7th September 2024
To end our What We'll Build fortnight it was Blue day on Friday 6th September. Everyone came to school in whatever they wanted for the day as long as it was blue! We all love a non-uniform day and this one was no different - children and adults arrived in a whole array of outfits: from princess dresses to shorts, t-shirts to superhero costumes but an especially large amount of blue denim!
The day ended with a FANs Family Sundowner. Parents joined their children for a relaxed afternoon together. Families met up with each other and formed new friendships over a slice of cake, glass of punch or a piece of pizza. All children had donated a bottle to get the chance to have a non-uniform day and these were put together for the exceptionally popular bottle tombola. Tickets were furiously pulled from the box to see if there was a 5 or a 0 at the end as this means you are a winner and there is a treat awaiting you. From mayonnaise to prosecco, shampoo to soya sauce and beer to bath bubbles, the prizes were plentiful.
The bouncy castle is always a big hit at our family events and we are very grateful to BATUK for allowing us to borrow this for our events.
Mrs Bebbington is our most creative member of staff and she came up with a fantastic idea - she set up an art table for children to create BNIS's representation of some love to put aside from the Oliver Jeffers' book What We'll Build. This book has been used for the first fortnight to start this year at school and to help us bond and set our goals for the year ahead. There is now an installation of all this work on the wall near the kitchen.
