BNIS Kindness Week

19th November 2021

Following International World Kindness on the 13th of November, BNIS became overrun with Superheroes of all shapes, sizes and powers. Imagination and creativity was evidence in abundance and started our Kindness Week with a BANG!

Our whole school Thought for the Week set the tone, thinking about what the value of kindness truly means and how we can spread it. This message was reinforced with our Monday assembly where Mr Mulongo and Miss Hogan wonderfully reenacted the Aesop's Fable of ‘The Lion and The Mouse’. Our Year 8 Events Leaders put together an excellent programme of events for all the school to enjoy. They began by distributing ‘silent kindness slips’ where children could write anonymous messages of kindness for anyone in our school community. Children took great pleasure from posting these in our secret kindness postbox, before they were handed out on Friday. Year 8’s visited each class across the week during form time to play games and spread a little more kindness. A highlight they stated was going to Early Years and joining in with freeflow and story time. To conclude the week each child reflected on what Kindness Week has taught them, they either drew or wrote their reflections on a paper heart. These hearts were used to create a kindness pathway across the quad. As our week comes to an end we hope that our value of kindness continues to flourish.
