BNIS Staff on Holiday

11th January 2024

BNIS staff eagerly awaited the holiday break after a challenging term, seeking the chance to recharge and celebrate with loved ones. They embraced the festive holiday and many took time to explore Kenya. Here are some of the holiday experiences of our staff members:

Ms Harrison and her family took some time to explore the coastal region. During their visit, she rediscovered her passion for kite-surfing, which has now become her another one of her favoured adrenaline-inducing activities.

During the Christmas holiday, Mr Kurito's community buzzed with festive ceremonies. With help from his siblings, he orchestrated a traditional Massai gathering. They brought all of the children together to express gratitude to their parents for their guidance. They had a delightful time savouring their favourite dish - Nyama Choma!

Ms Mwatsuma explored the south coast region. She visited the historic site of Fort Jesus near Mombasa, a Portuguese fort built between 1593 - 1596, where she saw various artefacts and examined artillery from the pre-colonial era. Amidst the exploration, she delighted in the breathtaking views of the vast blue sea, and took time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

On Christmas Eve, Ms Njeri spent time getting very close with giraffes at the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi. It wasn't just about feeding the tall creatures; Ms Njeri learned about endangered animals and how they are cared for outside their usual habitats or in the wild.

Ms Mogaka also spent time with her family this holiday, going from house to house sharing laughter and food. She had a wonderful time catching up, celebrating missed family birthdays, and of course, the feasts surrounding the Christmas season.

A lot of travelling was involved, starting with a 10 hour journey to Olooseos, then on to Magadi, Rukuma, Naivasha and finally to Meru!

The Gould family had a relaxing Nanyuki-based break from school. They spent Christmas morning at home and a few nights away on safari, sleeping under the stars. They saw lots of game, and also played lots of board games together!
