Inspired by William Kamkwamba, the Malawian boy who used science to ‘harness the wind’, the Year 8s have been working hard in English lessons to create biographies of other famous scientists. From Temple Grandin to Marie Curie, Nikola Tesla to Isaac Newton, the children have been discovering interesting information about these brilliant innovators who have changed the world.
In order to successfully complete this project, we have been learning how to find reliable sources, take notes, paraphrase information and organise their findings into chronological biographies. After all their hard work, the children practised their public speaking skills by presenting some of their learning to their peers.
