It’s been a lively and creative week in Year 2. In English, the children enjoyed learning Eliot the Midnight Superhero through actions and repetition, which helped them build confidence and storytelling skills. They are now excited to create their own superhero stories!
In Maths, they explored fractions like halves, quarters, and three-quarters through fun, hands-on activities using fruit, paper, and shapes to understand how parts make a whole. There was a real buzz as they began to understand how different fraction parts make up a whole.
In Geography, the class explored the five oceans and learned how to use compass directions through maps, globes, and songs. They loved using new vocabulary to describe places around the world and even in school! In History, they learned about Florence Nightingale and how she helped soldiers during the Crimean War.
Inspired by her care, the children tried finger knitting to represent making blankets for soldiers, linking the past to the present in a meaningful way.
We wish everyone a restful and well-deserved half-term break and look forward to all the adventures the next half of the term will bring!
