Creche Mathematicians

21st January 2022

Maths plays a major role in a child’s development and helps children make sense of the world around them. In Creche, we have been exploring patterns and shapes - comparing sizes and counting through actions. Children have been using a variety of methods to problem-solve and talk about their findings.

It’s wonderful to see the children’s learning come through in pretend play, where they have been spotted using their maths to divide play dough up into smaller pieces, building towers with as many building blocks as they can, and even outdoors, filling and refilling the sandpit.

Through maths, we give children opportunities to: discover and create; use number concepts and skills to explore; develop confidence in their ability to think things through; solve meaningful problems and create connections to help discover relationships.
