Developments

29th August 2025

During the long break from school, there has been a lot of visible development as well as some more 'hidden' activity at the school.

The swimming pool complex is coming on brilliantly. In the picture above, the 25m pool is clearly visible on the side closest to the tennis courts (the deep end is where the wooden posts are) and, if you look carefully, the training pool is also visible, between the main pool and the buildings. The buildings house changing rooms, a pump room and further storage. Everything seems to be going well and we are on track for opening during this academic year, with a fair degree of confidence, we can presume that we will be using the pool in Term 3....with some possibility of some of Term 2 as well!

We have also had a complete overhaul and extension to our kitchen during the break. The building was completely gutted and the two large stores taken out which increased the size of the room; it was then refitted with stainless steel surfaces throughout. The old 'washing up area' at the back has been turned into a large storage area where we have added two more fridge freezers as well as a brand new chest freezer. We have triple the amount of oven and hob space with the new appliances. An extension has been added on the side of the building which has created a large washing up area. The kitchen team are delighted with the new facilities and we look forward to some more menu development now that they have such increased capacity.

The 'hidden' development that has happened, includes upgrades to most of our electrical supply to ensure we can maintain the highest standards of electrical safety and an increase in our bandwidth to ensure we can meet the growing demands on our internet. The PCs in the ICT suite are currently being replaced by laptops which will enable this somewhat 'tired' area of the school to be more efficient for our children's computing lessons.

Our thanks go to the Braeburn Workshop team who have tirelessly worked over the break to get this work completed as well as the lovely Mr Emmanuel who has been juggling the many ICT related changes, upgrades and developments in the school.
