Diving into the Depths

The school was filled with excitement and nerves before the three successful swimming galas held this past week. The enjoyment had by both children and parents was well worth the time and effort put in by the dedicated BNIS sports team. Students showed remarkable talent, sportsmanship, and for some, great bravery, across all events.

The first day of the event consisted of a morning for Year 5, 6, 7 and 8 students to showcase their skills that they have been developing during school swimming lessons. The next day, the Year 2, 3 and 4 children got the spectators cheering loudly, and on the final day Year 1, FS1 and FS2 children also enjoyed showing off their water skills in front of a large crowd of parents.

Each day, BNIS swimmers demonstrated exceptional determination by competing in a variety of races and activities. From underwater treasure hunts to 50m butterfly races - the events were plentiful. The children enjoyed earning points for their respective houses through participation as well as ranking. The pool was alive with energy as participants pushed their limits and strived to beat their race-mates to the end...although, this competitiveness was mainly witnessed in the parent/teacher races.

For our youngest swimmers (Year 1, FS1 and FS2), though they were not competing in houses, they were still incredibly proud of their achievements. The early skills that this group displayed are the foundations of water safety and stroke mastery, and it was great to see them do these with smiles on their faces.

We extend our gratitude to the children, parents, teachers, and support staff who joined together to create a vibrant and supportive atmosphere at the pool. Asanteni sana!
