EARLY YEARS RTL REVAMPED

18th September 2020

We continue to focus on our 7 areas of learning through our fun and exciting learning opportunities provided through our daily themes:

🐵 Monkey Monday

We focus on developing our fine and gross motor skills through creative, manipulative, sensory activities which include, malleable, messy play, dough disco, dance and movement and many more. These activities help strengthen muscles, develop general coordination and hand-eye coordination which are important to develop pre-writing and writing skills.

🚀Terrific Tuesday

We love building and constructing! Terrific Tuesday is a great day for us to showcase what we can build and how we can use different resources at our disposal creatively for construction purposes. Great ideas have developed during this terrific day which include creating ball runs which will definitely be one of our challenges! More opportunities for constructing using ‘junk’ or reusable items are encouraged to promote recycling and reusing materials.

🌈 Wonder Wednesday

Children are encouraged to use their imagination as they take up different characters, bringing them to life through role play and imaginative play. This is a great day for dressing up, making masks and puppets to explore creative play. They enjoy exploring their own role play spaces including dens to come up with their own stories.

🌻 Thankful Thursday

This is a great opportunity to be reflective, thankful and mindful of ourselves and others. Our Thankful Thursday focus revolves around different values including; caring, appreciation, kindness, trust, consideration, among others. Children also reflect on their learning and show pride in some of their achievements as they look ahead to what they can do even better. Our weekly assemblies are held every Thursday, celebrating our Star of the Week and birthdays of the week.

🍉 Foodie Friday

What a way to end the week as we celebrate foods from different cultures. We explore creative ways of combining food making it appealing and fun to eat. Children have a chance to explore different techniques in food preparation in our cookery sessions. We have a great opportunity to have a virtual lunch and talk about some of our favourite things to eat, remember our table etiquette and eat together.
