The last day of Term 2 was filled with plenty of fun activities to get the children ‘hopping’ into the end of term and the holiday spirit.
The fun morning kicked off with a round-robin of activities. In groups, the children moved around the school; most were waiting patiently for their turn to take part in the much anticipated Egg Hunt organised by Mrs Walby.
It was wonderful to see the children working together in their groups to solve the riddles at each station around the school. Once the riddle had been solved, they rushed off to the spot that clue led them to (leaving the teacher trundling along trying to catch up). Once they reached their destination, they found the next clue and wrote down the corresponding letter. The goal was to find all the clues and the letters that corresponded to the clues so as to form a short sentence. Once they were able to form their sentence, they bombarded Ms Judy who distributed the goods - EGGS!
There was also a lego station led by Mr Molongo where the children were given a few tasks to complete in their teams: building a lego egg, a bridge to cross the sea and the tallest tower. The teamwork shown at this station was fantastic, producing some sturdy bridges and extremely tall towers. The children had to make sure they were thinking critically in order to make towers and bridges that were tall and long, but also secure so that they did not topple over.
Ms Harrison’s station was full of puzzles, but the children were not to be puzzled as they whizzed through solving picture and word puzzles. At the music station, the children got the opportunity to create a song - making a melody and lyrics to their song. They really enjoyed listening to the complete song once all of the parts had been put together. Ms Mucharie was blown away with the childrens creativity, perhaps we have some future super stars on our hands! The PE team also put the childrens agility to the test with a series of challenging assault courses. What is an end of term activity without a craft - armed with paper, scissors and glue, the children folded, stuck and coloured pieces of paper in order to make different bunnies.
The day ended with a school-wide dance in the quad to “Celebration” - ceeeelebrate good times, come on!
We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. It has been wonderful to hear about all the adventures the children got up to, but it is so lovely to have the school full of children again. We know this term will finish off the school year in style!
