Elite Pride

8th November 2024

As a member of IAPS, we have access to opportunities that we have not experienced before. In the U13 age group, in football, hockey, netball and rugby, children can be selected at tournaments to play as part of the 'county' teams in a second event. There are three 'county' teams in Kenya: Up-Country, Nairobi East and Nairobi West. BNIS, along with Pembroke and St Andrews, make up the Up-Country team. To be selected to be a county player, you need to be the 'best-of-the-best'.

On Saturday 2nd November, our U13 boys and girls took part in IAPS football tournaments leading to two BNIS boys and four BNIS girls being selected to play in the 'county' teams on Sunday 3rd November. All children played well but there was no doubt that our girls were a formidable force on the field at Braeburn Gitanga Road. The four girls were instrumental in the excellent play throughout the game but a positvely beautiful goal from Alicia secured the Up-Country team the cup for this year - it is definitely possible that the screams of delight could have been heard in Nanyuki!

Earlier this term, two of our Year 8 boys also attended trials for the Kenyan IAPS Rugby team that will travel to the UK in March 2025 to tour around a range of IAPS schools. Unfortunately the boys did not make the squad but they made a valient effort and were definitely noticed by the coaches.

We are excited to see more success for BNIS children as the year continues.
