Enjoying Kiswahili

16th September 2022

JAMBO!

Children have been enjoying every second of their Kiswahili lessons. In the first two weeks of the term, we learnt about parts of trees, different types of gardens and a variety of colours of flowers in relation to the theme ‘Growing our future’.

This week each class has been focussing on specific topic areas linked to their curriculum themes. The Year 2 children have been learning about classroom instructions (Maagizo darasani). The children have learnt some helpful key words to use in and out of the classroom with their peers and teachers. In the upcoming lessons, children will learn to count ordinal numbers 11-20 and use these to describe quantities, describe simple arithmetic calculations and be able to speak about the important dates in their life, such as birthdays.

In Year 7, children are learning about Clothes (Mavazi/Nguo), naming everyday clothing items that they wear at school and at home. In the upcoming lessons, children will learn more about everyday clothing items worn by different people and some of the decorations for different occasions.
