One of the highlights of Year 5 this term has been our PSHE class economy. At the start of the term, pupils applied for a wide range of roles to help manage their daily responsibilities.
Our Year 5 classroom now boasts a busy and dedicated workforce. Pupils secured a variety of roles, including class accountants managing the ledgers, class police helping maintain a positive environment, and creative retailers designing bracelets. We even introduced specialised positions like ski instructors and space club coordinators.
Every role commands a weekly salary paid in our very own currency, Class Cash. However, it is not all play, as our citizens also pay weekly taxes to the Year 5 Government to keep our classroom society running smoothly. Each week, we review how the roles are going and even convene our own courtroom, where class judges and lawyers support peers facing workplace fines.
The highlight of our economic calendar remains the Market Fair. We have already hosted two highly successful events, inviting children and teachers from across the school to spend their hard-earned cash on a wonderful array of items.
Our enterprising students designed and managed stalls featuring a variety of goods and services, including:
Handmade Crafts: Beautifully crafted crochet items, bespoke handmade bracelets, and highly sought-after custom "squishies".
Pupil Publications: Student-produced magazines focusing on ponies, crochet, and dogs.
Gourmet Treats: Freshly popped popcorn, cold lemonade, sweet Swiss rolls, delicious cakes, and refreshing ice lollies.
Interactive Entertainment: A brilliant range of games with prizes, a "pay-to-score" penalty shootout challenge, and even tickets to a Year 5 Star Wars experience.

The teamwork, problem-solving, and financial literacy on display have been fantastic to see. Year 5 has truly shown a wonderful spirit of enterprise.
