In Year 2, our learning journey has kicked off with an explosive start. We've delved deep into the captivating realm of the World's habitats, unravelling the incredible adaptations of the animals and plants that call these habitats home. Our young explorers were quick to discover that within these mini landscapes lie hidden treasures known as microhabitats. They've been on a whirlwind mission, conducting a thorough survey to unearth the secrets these microhabitats hold for their inhabitants.
Armed with enthusiasm, they've ventured into the miniature world that thrives within these microhabitats. Their findings were diligently recorded on data sheets, all in pursuit of unveiling which mini creatures who live within our school's microhabitats.
In Art, our creative geniuses have embarked on an epic quest, bringing their imaginations to life as they sketch and paint diverse habitats. Last week, enchanting pond habitats graced our displays, while this week, they're crafting awe-inspiring desert landscapes using the dynamic collage technique.
A thrilling expedition to the William Holden Trust looms on the horizon, promising to deepen our understanding of plant and animal habitats. Our brave explorers can hardly contain their excitement, eager to witness the tamed creatures that call this place home and compare their lives to those in captivity.
In our English lessons, the children are learning to write animal reports. Using the 'Talk for Writing Approach,' they're gradually absorbing a model text. The children are on a mission to add their unique twist to it, crafting their very own mythical creature reports. As if that weren't enough, their creative minds are brewing with ideas for inventing new creatures to feature in their personalised reports in the near future.
