This week in FS 1, we have been learning about the different parts of the body and what they do. It has been fun and very interesting.
Our book of the week was From Head to Toe by Eric Carle. The children had a blast mimicking the actions of the animals as they wiggled, whirled, stomped, and romped along. We also enjoyed a short video about body parts and learned the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes."
In a creative twist, we used various shapes to craft our own body masterpieces. Working in pairs, the children traced their body outlines and compared similarities and differences. During our water play session, we had fun washing dolls and naming their body parts.
To better understand our bodies, we used water-filled gloves to experience what it might feel like without a skeleton - like a jelly! We also made skeletons with paper straws, which made our fingers quite sticky but was lots of fun!
We learned the words and danced along to the song "Dem Bones." We had to concentrate and listen carefully to do the right actions! We can wait for next week as we come dressed in pyjamas!
