This past week, BNIS was treated to the EYFS performance of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. Every week, EYFS could be seen walking across to the Podo Theatre as they prepared for their performance and all their hard work paid off!
The theatre was abuzz with excitement, plenty of siblings sitting in the audience waiting patiently to see their brother or sister shine! The EYFS teachers and staff could be seen helping the children from in front of the stage, quietly guiding and offering support if needed. Last year, EYFS performed on the stage in Early Years, but this year they made it bigger than ever, challenging the children to perform on our Podo Theatre’s stage (a much larger venue with plenty more people) and they did not disappoint!
The EYFS performance of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" incorporated a twist - there was not only one Goldilocks, instead there were three! It was wonderful to see the three Goldilocks shine in their roles and wow the audience with their confidence. The Three Bears delivered their lines with gusto - if ever someone was to encounter a bear, you would hope it was one of those three.
The songs and actions that went along with the story line were sung beautifully, the audience could be seen tapping their feet and bobbing along to the songs. Some of the audience members who have siblings in EYFS could be seen doing the actions from their seats in the crowd and singing along quietly. The children spoke loudly and said their lines with confidence - a massive feat for such young people. As the rest of the school walked back to class, you could hear mutterings of - “That was such a lovely play”, “The children were nice and loud”, “I wish I could watch it again”.
The set was beautifully designed by Mrs Bebbington and really set the scene, creating a wonderful backdrop for this delightful performance. The play would not have been the success it was without the support of parents and guardians. They actively participated by assisting with costumes, filling the theatre with some ferocious bears and other woodland creatures.
The children should be so proud of themselves, the courage it takes to stand up in front of the whole school plus dance and sing is extraordinary!
