Incredible Me!

14th October 2022

This first half of Term 1 in Creche, we have been learning about ourselves. We explored this topic through discussions, rhymes, storybooks and songs.

Who’s our Best Friend? We read ‘The Lonely Penguin’ storybook and talked about why the penguin felt lonely. We then explored our feelings and discussed different reasons that may make us feel a certain way. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn that they are allowed to have big feelings and it is rather how they communicate their feelings in order to move through them. We then talked about the penguin finding his friends at the sea and how that made him feel. As a follow up activity, we drew a picture of our best friend.

Maisy Feels Sad! After reading this storybook, the children put on their ‘thinking hat’ and spoke about how they were feeling on that particular day. The children then drew a picture of their faces displaying how they were feeling. It was a happy day for everyone!

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes! Everyone can sing this song! Isn’t it amazing? The Creche children enjoyed every bit of it. “Let’s sing it fast and then slowly,” a child suggested. Through this song, the children got to learn and label their body parts which made them more aware of their own physiques. This topic helped the children to develop their imagination skills, vocabulary, creative skills and self-awareness. They also got to explore their emotions safely through fun and interesting activities. Enjoy some pictures of our creativity!
