Karibu Kenya

16th September 2021

Jambo! The children have been so excited to welcome their new classmates into Braeburn Nanyuki; for some of our new joiners this is their first time in Kenya, so weekly Kiswahili lessons have been a great way to help them settle into life in Kenya.

Children from across the school have created pictures to illustrate the various places you can visit and what you might find there; I’m sure you’ve noticed that we here at BNIS are always very excited to tell newcomers that our school is situated at the foot of the tallest mountain in Kenya, but can you blame us for being excited by such spectacular views each day?

Did you know that the word “safari” actually means journey in Kiswahili? Many of our children come to us already speaking Kiswahili without even knowing it… who doesn’t love a trip to Ol Pejeta?

Children love to share their knowledge and experiences of Kenya in our lessons and are always on hand to give a helping hand to those who need it. With such an open armed welcome, it is impossible for new joiners to not feel at home in Kiswahili lessons, regardless of their levels of experience in the language before joining us.

Karibu Braeburn Nanyuki; Karibu Kenya!
