Keeping Fit in Year 2

8th March 2021

Our whole school daily fitness session ended at February Half Term however; Year 2 wanted to continue developing their fitness, so started a morning run on alternate days.

The children run or walk, at their own pace, for around 20 minutes. Each session, the children are encouraged to run a little bit more to improve their fitness. This activity does not only have a positive effect on fitness levels, research shows that this kind of activity also increases alertness during classes. It is shown to improve concentration, increase verbal memory and improve general mood.

The children are challenging themselves and showing great determination to run as far as they can. The more lively children are learning to pace themselves, so they can cover a greater distance. Everyone, including teachers, are very proud of their efforts and are working towards completing 5km.
