Learning and Growing

23rd January 2026

The first three weeks of Term 2 have been a great start. The children have returned to school full of energy, enthusiasm, and excitement for learning. We have been enjoying our “5 A Day Adventures”, learning where food comes from, how it helps our bodies, and listening to traditional stories along the way.

In Science, the children have been learning about Animals Including Humans through fun discovery stations. They were also introduced to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a simple and meaningful way, with a focus on our local Laikipia community. By exploring real, locally grown fruits and vegetables, the children learned about healthy choices, caring for the environment, and everyday life.

The children also learned how animals grow and change. They explored animals that look like their parents and those that go through metamorphosis. They showed their learning by drawing and labelling simple life cycles. At the Heartbeat Hub, the children used stethoscopes to listen to their heartbeats before and after exercise and discovered how physical activity makes the heart beat faster.

In English, the children are finishing their unit on Traditional Tales, which inspired the assembly. Using Talk for Writing, they have been learning how authors use speech to bring characters to life. They practised using speech bubbles, speech marks, and speaker tags, and worked on writing clear sentences using conjunctions (FANBOYS) to join ideas.

In Mathematics, the children have completed their work on 3D shapes and have now started multiplication. They have been introduced to Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS), and login details have been shared so they can practice at home and build confidence.
