After reading Meerkat Mail, our class was inspired to write our own postcards all about life in Kenya. We learned what features to include and carefully composed messages to share our experiences with friends in the UK. To make our postcards extra special, we recorded ourselves reading them using Vocaroo. When the mail arrives, the children in the UK will be able to hear our voices as well as read our writing, truly bringing our messages to life. The children worked hard and are very proud of their work; we can’t wait for them to be received!

In Maths, the children have been developing their skills in adding ones using number bonds. This is an important step in helping them become confident and fluent with numbers. We focused on pairs of numbers that add up to a total, such as 10, 15, or 20, using different strategies to secure this knowledge.

In History, the class has been learning about significant events from the past. They discussed how the Great Fire of London started, why it spread so quickly, and how people at the time tried to stop it.

In Science, the children learned to tell the difference between living and non-living things. They discovered that living things grow, move, need food and water, and change over time, contrasting them with non-living items like rocks and tables. They enjoyed sorting different objects and explaining their ideas using scientific vocabulary.

We are very proud of the children’s enthusiasm and look forward to continuing our exciting learning together.
