EYFS had a wonderful first week back, highlighted by their long-awaited trip to the BATUK Barracks as part of their learning on Transport.
There was a real buzz of excitement as the children boarded the buses, full of chatter and anticipation about what they might see.
We were incredibly lucky to have a fantastic team at BATUK who organised a range of vehicles and helicopters for the children to explore.
The police van was especially popular – and the siren definitely went off more times than it should have (we will blame the little hands for that!).
Some children even had the opportunity to 'operate' a digger and lift objects, while others enjoyed role-playing in the ambulance, pretending to be 'patients'.
We are very grateful to the BATUK team for making this memorable experience possible, and to our wonderful children, who showed impeccable manners and a keen interest in everything they saw and learned.
It was especially meaningful that the trip took place during the Month of the Military Child. Many of the BATUK children were proud to show us where their parents work.
Back at school, the EYFS children made purple playdough cupcakes to celebrate and honour all Military Children.
