At BNIS, the curriculum is underpinned by a set of values known as the Braeburn Circles. These values guide our community to reflect, learn, and act in ways that help us grow as responsible citizens.
Last week, we introduced our new student leaders, including our Head Pupils, House Captains, and Student Council Representatives. While our Head Pupils are selected by staff, both the House Captains and Student Council members were chosen through democratic elections, with children putting themselves forward and their peers casting votes to decide who would represent them.
This week, democracy was once again put into practice as children across the school voted on the film for our upcoming Movie Night. Suggestions were gathered from the students, and each class had the chance to take part in the final decision.
Opportunities like these remind our children that democracy is not just about leadership positions but also about listening, sharing ideas, and respecting different opinions. It is a vital tool that ensures fairness and helps everyone to feel that their voice matters within our school community.
