This week, Year 3 has been extremely busy preparing for the Entrepreneur Market. We needed to decide on the types of cookies to make. After much deliberation, we decided to make two types of cookies; a chocolate chip cookie, a sugar cookie and a sugar cookie with icing. We went to Mrs Gould’s (the bank manager’s) office to ask for a loan. We wrote a letter, detailing the amount that we needed as well as what we were using the money for using a fabulous ‘Dragon’s Den’esque pitch. After the money was secured, the finance team headed to Chandarana to buy all the ingredients needed to make the crumbtastic cookies.
Now came the hard bit, the baking! On Wednesday, we started looking at the recipe that we were going to use and put together the ingredients. Then came the messy part, it was time for us to get our hands dirty. We started preparing our batter and dough for the cookies and popped them into the fridge. The children were very excited to get to be part of the whole process.
On Thursday, we spent the whole day prepping for our Entrepreneur Market on Friday. We had to finish the work we had begun that Wednesday. We put our chocolate chip cookie batter in the oven to bake while we made the shapes for the sugar cookies and they went into the oven as well.
After all this, it was time for the moment of truth! Our cookies turned out fantastically. Then we got to decorate some of the sugar cookies with icing. The children all got a turn to dip the sugar cookies in the icing and decorated them however they wished. The trickiest bit was trying to not eat the icing and batter!
