Message from the Y8 Social Lead

25th February 2022

At the start of this half term, the children in Primary were very lucky to receive some new play equipment. To help everyone to think about how the environment, including the school and all of our equipment, should be treated, Billy, one of our Year 8 Social Leaders, has written this:

“We, students at Braeburn Nanyuki International School, have been privileged enough to receive incredible play equipment such as new blue footballs, volleyballs and skipping ropes from our headteacher. This amazing new equipment has been bought for all the current students of Braeburn and hopefully all the students for many years to come. The only way future students are going to be able to enjoy all the fun play equipment during their play times is if we look after all of it as if it were our own personal stuff.

Some of the ways we could look after it are by making sure you sign out the equipment before you use it and when you check it out you examine whether all the equipment is in the crate before you leave the play area. If you lose a piece of play equipment you should tell the teacher on duty immediately so that they know the general area where you lost it and can find it with you.

If you do not look after the play equipment by doing things such as ripping/ plucking out sections of the foam balls or kicking the balls out of the school grounds you can risk losing the right to use it for a week or even more which won't just be miserable for you but will also be miserable for the people who play with you because they do not get to use any of the equipment either.

We hope that you will look after all the play equipment so that you can enjoy it and other children can too.”
