What a busy and exciting term it has been in Physical Development! Our Early Years children have been exploring all kinds of ways to move; running fast, tiptoeing quietly, hopping like bunnies and jumping like kangaroos! We have been learning about travelling, that is using our bodies to move in different ways and discovering how to move safely around others as we build our spatial awareness.
Through our fun games, songs and challenges, the children have also been learning all about keeping their bodies active and healthy, noticing how their hearts beat faster and their breathing quickens when they move, a wonderful way to understand what happens inside their bodies during exercise. These activities also help us practise being great team players through taking turns, helping friends and working together to reach a goal. It has been such a joy to see the children cheer each other on, cooperate and celebrate their big and small successes with huge smiles.
In the next few weeks, we will be having even more fun as we explore throwing and catching, balancing and simple rolls! These new challenges will help us grow stronger, move with better control and build confidence in our movement. Most importantly, these activities help the children discover just how much fun being active can be, setting the stage for a lifelong love of sports and movement!
