Music Recital

28th January 2023

The Oshwal Academy’s Annual Music recital called and Braeburn Nanyuki musicians answered.

With only two weeks of the term to prepare, the children worked on polishing pieces they had began learning last term. The music rooms were filled with singing, piano playing and rhythmic drumming as BNIS children worked hard to perfect their pieces.

Tuesday 24th, January quickly arrived and the children packed their bags and musical equipment into the bus and so the journey began. There was lots of chatting, eating, sleeping and singing on the way to Braeburn Garden Estate, where we were staying.

Wednesday 25th, January, 2023.

Excited chatter filled the breakfast hall. Today was the big day. The children wondered about the calibre of performances they would hear and what the other musicians would be playing. After breakfast, teeth were brushed, bags were packed inside the bus and off it went to the venue - Oshwal Academy.

We were welcomed to Oshwal Academy by their music teacher, and some children ushered us into the auditorium where the performances were set to happen. One-by-one the other schools trickled in – Rosslyn Academy, Braeburn Gitanga, Braeside and Peponi School, among others. At 10am the event began and after two performances, the BNIS musicians were called up. Each child bravely took to the stage and gave their performance. We were some of the youngest children performing, but that did not stop us and BNIS raised the roof! The singing was lively and beautiful. The playing was short and precise. The cheers were loud and sincere. It was a joy to listen to a wealth of young talented musicians from across Kenya and of course to showcase our own homegrown prodigies. Congratulations to all the children who participated in this event!
