My Five Senses

12th September 2024

The crèche children loved exploring the exciting world of senses. Every day, they use their five senses to understand the world around them. We have been learning about our senses and how they help us discover new things. Our sense of sight lets us see everything from bright colours to shapes and sizes. We use our eyes to see the people we love, watch the clouds, and explore books full of fun pictures. Our hands help us with the sense of touch on different textures and playing with toys in class.

Next, we looked into our sense of hearing and discussed which part of our body helps us hear and what kinds of sounds we can hear. "Birds chirping," said one child. "We hear our mums calling," said another. The children also learned that when we listen carefully, we can understand more about what’s happening around us.

The children had fun smelling different things and talking about their discovered smells. Our taste buds, located on our tongues, help us enjoy food. "I have a tongue," said one child. "Me too," another one chimed in. The children learned that by tasting, they could explore different flavours and decide what they liked and did not like. We then drew pictures of ourselves and added our ‘senses’.
