Parent workshops are amazing for strengthening our home/school partnership. The workshops run by Charlie (our Wellbeing Lead) help us to give parents access to evidence-based strategies for understanding children's emotional and social wellbeing, behaviour and development, as well as developing and fostering a supportive community. These sessions are a valuable resource to support parents in understanding how to navigate school life successfully and safely whilst providing insight into policies and procedures. There is always an opportunity to brainstorm during these sessions and to provide ongoing, valuable feedback. Charlie plans her parents workshops from suggestions made by the school community and there is usually at least one every half term. If you have an idea for something you would like to find out more about, please reach out to charlotte.abbonizio@braeburn.ac.ke.
This term, Charlie has run two workshops - one explaining the Zones of Regulation tool that we use across the school to help children understand and manage their emotions, and the second explaining our approach to Personal Social Health and Economic and Relationships & Health education at the school. She also took the opportunity at the most recent one to share information on the procedures in place to help us in our duty to safeguard children.
Our termly Parent Forums provide parents with a chance to find out more about how things are ‘done’ at the school. The agenda is set in advance by parents, to enable senior leaders to feed back on areas of interest. Our Term 2 forum is scheduled for Wednesday 4th March and we hope to see many of you there.
Slides from all presentations can be easily accessed on our parent portal which is a wealth of information. A link to this invaluable Google Site can be found in the ‘websites’ section of the parents’ Engage App (bottom left).
