This week, the FS1 children embarked on an exciting journey back in time to learn about the incredible world of dinosaurs. We started our topic with looking at eggs and the children were amazed to discover that dinosaur eggs were as big as a basketball! The children met some of the most amazing dinosaurs and each had a favourite for a particular reason.

To make learning exciting, the children engaged in some creative activities. They froze and hatched dinosaur eggs, crafted dinosaurs using shapes and turned part of the classroom into an archaeological site. They used small brushes to uncover dinosaur bones, just like real palaeontologists. They sang and danced to dinosaur-themed songs to help them remember fun facts.

Story time is always a hit, and this week we read ‘If Dinosaurs Came Back’ by Bernard Most. The children pondered upon how dinosaurs could be helpful to us humans.

Next week we look forward to making a healthy, crunchy snack fit for a dinosaur.
