Safer Internet Day 2022

5th February 2022

On Tuesday 8th February, people all over the world will be taking part in Safer Internet Day. Safer Internet Day is celebrated across the globe in over 170 countries, with thousands of children joining in across the world. It’s a day when we celebrate all the great things about being online and remind ourselves how we can stay safe.

The theme for this year’s Safer Internet Day is “All Fun and Games?” which will focus on exploring respect and relationships online. Throughout the week, children at school will be given the opportunity to find out more about respect whilst online and how we can make the internet a better place for everyone.

On Friday, children from year 4 presented an assembly all about Safer Internet Day and kept parents and other year groups informed and entertained as they showed us all how to behave with respect whilst online.

The children gave some fantastic examples of situations that could be encountered online whilst enjoying the apps and games that we love. The audience played their part too by taking part and suggesting some better courses of action for each scenario shown.

Year 4 delivered their message about respect and relationships superbly and reminded us all that if you ever see or experience something online that makes you feel upset, scared, angry, worried or confused you must talk to an adult for help and support.

The children ended the assembly with an upbeat song about staying safe online and showed some groovy dance moves to boot. The lyrics to the song are provided here should you want to recreate your own version of the song complete with some super stylish moves of your own! Safe Online Lyrics

Are you thinking of the dangers?

Are you talking to a stranger?

If somebody wants to meet ya

Tell a grown up or a teacher

Gotta be safe on line, all the time

Every site you search be alert

Gotta be safe online, realise

When you post and share, it’s out there.

Stop! Don’t send it off.

Wait! It’s not too late.

Think! Don’t click that link

Hey! Be safe online

YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook, Whatsapp

Google, Musically, Twitter, Instagram

On your Tablet, be safe online

On your phone, be safe online

At school, be safe online

At home, be safe online

On your Tablet, be safe online

On your phone, be safe online

At school, be safe online

At home, be safe online
