Scouts Unleashed: From Bonfires to Boat Rides!

26th April 2025

Just before the Term 2 ended, our Scouts turned the school grounds into a buzzing campsite. By 3:30pm on Thursday 27th March, excitement filled the air as the Scouts, with all hands on deck, began pitching tents and prepping for the night. Bags packed with essentials, sleeping bags, mattresses and rolling mats were hauled into place as the campsite came to life.

The evening kicked off with a special moment: the investiture ceremony at the Theatre. This is a proud Scouting tradition, where Scouts officially join the movement by making their promise. The ceremony was graced by the Laikipia Scout County Commissioner, adding a touch of prestige. Standing tall and saluting proudly, our Scouts beautifully recited the Scout Promise, the Scout Honour and the Scout Motto. They received their World Scout Badge, which was immediately stitched onto their Braeburn Scout scarf.

Dinner done, it was time to light up the night! Marshmallows toasted over roaring flames, jokes and songs filled the air and a surprise birthday celebration brought even more smiles. Torches in hand, the Scouts then set off on a thrilling night walk around the grounds, before collapsing into their tents for a well-earned sleep.

At dawn, the buzz picked up again. Marching drills shook off the sleep, breakfast fuelled the energy and the campsite was tidied to perfection. Then came the main event — a hike to Bantu Lodge through a lush nature park, complete with cheeky baboons popping up along the trail!

At Bantu Lodge, the fun exploded. Scouts braved the canopy walk, buzzed over the lake in motorboats, raced each other on playground swings and slides, explored riverside trails and threw themselves into lively team games. Laughter echoed everywhere and just when they thought it couldn't get any better, they wrapped up with a thrilling egg hunt!

After three hours of non-stop action, it was time to head back, tired, muddy and full of memories ready to dive into the end-of-term celebrations.

Our Scouts packed a whole world of adventure into just 24 hours and we couldn’t be prouder of their spirit, resilience and endless energy!
