Small Stars, Big Confidence

27th June 2026

What a breathtaking week it has been in EYFS! Our talented young performers absolutely captivated their audience with this term's highly anticipated production of 'There Is a Sunflower in My Supper'. While some of our community might remember the school staging this delightful show four years ago, this year we brought a brilliant, brand-new twist to the stage to beautifully align with our current 'Safari' learning topic.

For those who missed the magic, the story follows a herd of cows who are completely fed up with eating plain old green grass every single day. They dream of a tastier, brighter treat: delicious, golden sunflowers! In our special safari rendition, the story came alive in the heart of the savannah. The journey was led by our star character Kibibi, who played the role of Daisy the cow, alongside a fantastic group of traditional cow herders serving as our narrators and the wise old Babu Owl. As the cows made their colourful plea for a change of menu, the stage erupted with a vibrant market scene filled with enthusiastic market sellers, a crafty seed seller, and the grumpy Mr Bull.

The savannah truly came alive with nature as our youngest stars transformed into a stunning landscape of blooming sunflowers, leaping squirrels, buzzing bees, chirping bugs and fluttering butterflies. One of the absolute highlights of the performance was the music. The children did not just sing their hearts out—they also incorporated some magnificent Maasai dance moves into the choreography. Watching the children leap, stamp and move to the rhythmic safari beats with such pride and energy was an unforgettable experience.

From our tiniest stars in Creche all the way up to our oldest leaders in FS2, every single child gave their absolute best. For many of our pupils, standing on a big stage can be daunting, yet it was an absolute joy to witness just how much their confidence has grown. The children articulated their lines beautifully, sang with incredible enthusiasm and remembered a massive sequence of actions and dance steps. The immense pride on their faces as the audience erupted into applause said it all.

A massive thank you to all the parents for helping with costumes, to the staff for their tireless directing, Mrs Bebbington for the lovely backdrop and most importantly, to our phenomenal children. You brought the magic of the safari straight to our hearts!
