15th May 2026
On Wednesday, May 13th, Year 6 traded their desks for the medieval spires of Tafaria Castle for a whirlwind two-day residential. Setting off a little later than originally planned, the excitement was palpable as students enjoyed a "bus picnic" lunch, fueling up for the Go Dream program that lay ahead.
The trip was designed to bring our previous studies on the Theory of Evolution to life. Supported by the National Museums of Kenya, the onsite museum offered a deep dive into our biological heritage. We explored the development of human communication and the history of Kenyan currency, culminating in a competitive quiz that put our students’ listening skills to the ultimate test!
The learning didn't stop at the museum doors. A tour of the Nano Farm introduced the class to plant taxonomies, where they discovered the fascinating world of "plant clans" and how different species are classified.
After a busy afternoon of academic discovery, it was time to relax. While some students headed for the swimming pool, others tested their aim at the billiards table. Following a delicious supper, we gathered at the Amphitheatre for a screening of Minions. Surprisingly, the film sparked several debates regarding its links to our trip's themes—proving that Year 6 can find a learning opportunity even in a cartoon!
Thursday morning began with team-building exercises designed to strengthen the bonds within 6AG. The energy remained high as the group transitioned to:
To wrap up the trip, the class enjoyed one final swim—this time with the added thrill of the water slide—before a final ceremony at the amphitheatre. Every student was awarded their Go Dream certificate, marking their successful completion of the program.
We returned to school on Thursday afternoon, tired but inspired. It was a trip to remember, and a huge well done to 6AG for representing Braeburn Nanyuki with such curiosity and enthusiasm!
