The IAPS Hockey Festival

6th March 2026

Our U9 hockey teams headed to Hillcrest for the IAPS Festival this week, and despite keeping a nervous eye on the clouds, the rain stayed away. The pitches were excellent, and the energy was even better.

Both our boys' and girls' teams had a massive day of sport, playing seven matches each. That is a lot of running for small legs, but the children didn't slow down once!

Our teams showed some serious heart. The boys were incredibly tough to beat, walking away with three great wins against BGE, Hillcrest, and Pembroke. They also held their own in three hard-fought draws, losing only a single match all day.

The girls were just as impressive, growing in confidence with every game. They fought hard for four draws against teams like Kenton and Banda. Even in the three matches that didn't go their way, they never gave up and kept a positive attitude until the final whistle.

The best part of the day wasn't the goals—it was the teamwork. We saw our players digging deep, sprinting for every ball, and truly supporting one another. For many, this was the start of their competitive journey, and they handled it like pros.

It was a fantastic day out, and the talent we saw on the field makes the future of hockey here look very bright. A huge well done to everyone who played!
