The Power of Visitors

16th January 2026

There is a special kind of magic that happens when we open our school doors to the wider world. Bringing experts and community members into the classroom does more than just support our curriculum; it sparks curiosity and ignites the imagination! It has been an absolute joy to watch our students’ faces light up as they meet real-world practitioners who turn abstract concepts into living, breathing lessons.

Health and Harmony in Early Years

Our youngest learners in EYU have been buzzing with excitement. We kicked off a focus on well-being on September 18th with a visit from Dr. Julio. As a surgeon, he captivated the children, explaining the 'superpowers' gained from eating fruits and vegetables and teaching us how to care for our eyes. The medical theme continued on September 25th when Dr. Dunton and Dr. Williams visited to demonstrate the art of proper handwashing and tooth brushing - making hygiene incredibly fun!

We also travelled the globe without leaving our seats! Mrs. O'Shea brought the vibrant colours of the Cape Town Kite Festival to life on October 27th. We were equally delighted to welcome Gifty Asiamah, who shared the rich traditions of the Yam festival in Ghana, and Anne Kariuki, who gave us a warm insight into Thanksgiving celebrations in the US.

Science and Stewardship

For our older students, the focus shifted to the wonders of our planet. Year 5 was treated to a visit from Jenny Farmer, an environmental scientist. She took the class on a journey through the different biomes she has worked in across Africa, bringing geography to life.

Years 7 and 8 had the privilege of hosting Tim Collins, a marine biologist. His passion was infectious as he discussed his work both within and beyond Africa, emphasising our shared responsibility to protect our oceans. It was a powerful reminder of how science translates into action.

Looking Ahead

We are thrilled to announce that Years 7 and 8 will soon welcome a very special guest: Chief Justice Willy Mutunga. He will be joining us to discuss his work and the art of debating. We simply cannot wait!

A huge, heart-felt thank you to all our visitors for gifting us their time and wisdom. Here’s to many more inspiring conversations!
