Track and Field

3rd November 2022

From proper pencil/pen manipulation to the firm grip on a striking bat, object control is a fundamental skill not only in sport, but in everyday life as well. This half term, the introduction of cricket in Games lessons has added to the development of catching, throwing and striking skills that help grow the children's fine motor skills, working on their coordination and control of objects within their environment. Underarm and overarm throws, rolling the ball, long barrier and bowling are a few of the activities that have contributed to fun Games lessons with the additional benefit of learning about the sport of cricket.

P.E. lessons have been structured to focus on both field and track athletics events. The benefits of athletics to the heart, muscles and mind are well known and the growth and development in the children is evident through their decreased times in running distances, further ball throws and jumps as well as increased endurance. To challenge their hard work, children have been chosen to participate in the annual Kasarani Athletics Meet on16th November and no doubt will make us proud…go Team BNIS!

In addition, the school’s competitive Athletics morning being held on Tuesday, 8th November has been highly anticipated as every child has the honour to represent their house in various Athletic events for points. Parents are welcome as we celebrate the children’s athletic prowess on the field and share a day of fun!
