Trips Out

23rd October 2025

At BNIS, we believe that learning goes far beyond the walls of a classroom. Educational visits give our children the chance to explore the world around them, make real-life connections to what they learn in school, and develop curiosity, confidence, and independence. This term, several classes have enjoyed exciting trips that brought their learning to life.

Year 1 visited Bantu Lodge as part of their Geography topic on maps, continents, and oceans. The children explored the site using map skills, identified key features, and recorded landmarks as they moved around. The sky walk helped them understand what a place looks like from above, while the boat ride sparked imaginative thinking about crossing from one continent to another. It was a wonderful day of hands-on exploration.

Year 2 travelled to Lolldaiga Ranch to support their Science topic, Living Things in Their Habitats. They learned about regenerative farming and the importance of balance in ecosystems, discovering how plants, animals, and people rely on one another. The children helped herd cows, created paddocks, spotted wildlife, and enjoyed a peaceful picnic by the dam. This followed earlier fieldwork around the school grounds, where they studied microhabitats and minibeasts.

Year 3 enjoyed a fascinating visit to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy linked to their Stone Age History unit. They were able to view ancient handaxes and tools used by early humans, deepening their understanding of how people lived long ago. The children also visited the Lewa Education Centre and took part in a wildlife game drive, making strong connections between the past and the present.

Year 4 embarked on an Inventions trip to Burguret, where they examined different types of vehicle engines at a parent’s workshop. They compared modern engines to the earliest versions and looked closely at the materials used to make engine parts. This hands-on learning encouraged them to think about how innovations evolve over time.

From wildlife conservancies to engineering workshops, each trip gave our pupils memorable opportunities to learn in exciting environments. These experiences help our children see how the knowledge and skills they gain at BNIS apply in the world around them. We look forward to even more adventures as the year continues!
