Our Year 5 classroom turned into a real crime scene this week! To finish their Science topic on 'Properties of Materials,' the children became 'Junior Recruits' for the day. With help from the BATUK Military Police, they had to solve the mystery of a stolen school trophy.
The classroom was blocked off with official police tape. After a briefing from the Officer in Charge, the children put on white forensic suits and masks. They learned how to collect evidence carefully without touching it with their hands.

The investigation was divided into three rigorous operational phases. At the Scene of Crime, expertly guided by the BATUK Military Police, the children secured physical evidence using latent print powder and footprint casting materials. Meanwhile, the Intelligence station saw them thoughtfully interviewing witnesses and scrutinising alibis. This activity perfectly reinforced the British Value of the Rule of Law, highlighting how justice relies entirely upon factual evidence and fair, unbiased inquiry.

The morning ended with a 'Case Conference' where the children presented their findings and caught the thief!
We want to say a huge thank you to the BATUK Military Police for such an exciting morning. The children had a wonderful time using their classroom lessons to solve a real-world problem. It was a day they will never forget!
