Welcoming New Faces

3rd September 2022

After the long break, it has been a delight to see our school come to life again with both children and staff. We have welcomed many new families to the school from both Kenya and overseas. As always our Braeburn community has welcomed all the new children warmly and it has been wonderful to see everyone having fun together during lessons and playtimes.

We have also been lucky to have some new members of staff join us: Mrs House (Year 6 Class Teacher), Ms Kivaya (French and Art Teacher), Mr Gitamu (PE/Games Teacher), Miss Webbo (PE/Games Teacher) and Nurse Vanessa.

Within our existing teachers we have had lots of exciting changes and we are delighted that Mrs Bebbington has joined FS2 as a class Teacher, Miss Waikwa is now a Year 1 Teacher, Miss Musundi has joined Year 3 as a class Teacher, Mrs Flowers is our Year 4 class Teacher, Mrs Mwatsuma has joined Year 5 as a class Teacher, Mr Gould has moved to be a Year 6 class Teacher and Miss Mokua is now our whole school Kiswahili Teacher.

Although this first week has been incredibly busy, a few of our new staff were able to answer some very important questions for an exclusive Newsletter Interview:

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Nurse Vanessa: I would love to live in Mexico, because I would like to join the Tulum Jungle Gym. I am an Olympic Weight Lifting Athlete (no, I haven’t competed in the Olympics yet.. It’s just the name of the sport) and it would be the perfect place for me to train.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?

Miss Webbo: I would be a cat as they are flexible, have nine lives and are extremely confident even when they shouldn’t be!

Mrs House: I would be a bird, so I could fly!

If you could meet one famous person (real or fictional) who would it be and why?

Miss Musundi: Beyonce!!! It would have to be Beyonce because I love her music and I just adore her.

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?

Ms Kivaya: I would love to be able to teleport, because I could visit my family all the time and travel to different places in the world so easily.

If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring three things, what would you bring and why?

Mr Gitamu: 1. My best friend because it is important to have a person to talk to, share ideas and work together. 2. A fishing net for food obviously! 3. Matchstick to make fire.
